My current research explores the integration of Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT), Art Therapy, Ecotherapy, and other creative psychotherapies. I am particularly interested in how these approaches can support neurodivergent individuals (ADHD/ASD), older adults, and culturally diverse communities.
My published review, The Application of Animal-Assisted Therapy in Psychotherapy, introduces current international evidence and clinical developments in AAT to Chinese readers, contributing to knowledge translation in a field that is still emerging in China.
My future research aims to develop culturally responsive and evidence-informed models that integrate animal-assisted psychotherapy with expressive arts therapies, while also exploring the therapeutic role of nature, creativity, and the human-animal relationship in mental health and wellbeing.
Drawing on my multidisciplinary background in art therapy, veterinary medicine, and creative arts, I hope to contribute to the development of interdisciplinary animal-assisted services in Australia and internationally.
