Business Statement C Horses provides evidence-based therapeutic interventions using a multi-modal approach involving interactions with horses in the natural environment. This approach can be appealing to clients who desire a break from room-based therapies, and the experiential learning context of C Horses’ programs has the benefit of more effectively integrating in the mind and body the relational, somatic, and social-emotional skills learned by clients. Horses have a particular ability for relational attunement and interacting with them in an experiential learning framework can access physiological processes that tap into social engagement and other neurological systems with measurable, positive effects. We collaborate with clients, and with their health care teams, families and caregivers to provide therapy programs that can help to develop and strengthen capacities normally established in childhood, but which may have been impacted by attachment disruptions and adverse life experiences. Sessions are customised for each client to address their therapeutic goals, and where clinically appropriate, involves working with horses to allow the experience of relational attunement in an enriching environment. Developing competency and confidence around horses provides a basis for therapeutic activities supporting sensory integration, emotion regulation and self-efficacy.
