C Horses provides evidence-based therapeutic interventions using a multi-modal interactions with horses in the natural environment. This approach is appealing to clients who desire an alternative to exclusively room-based therapies. We collaborate with clients, their health care teams, families and caregivers to provide individual and group therapy programs that strengthen capacities normally established in childhood, but which may have been impacted by attachment disruptions and adverse life experiences. Sessions are customised for each client to address their therapeutic goals, and where clinically appropriate, this involves working closely with horses to allow the experience of relational attunement. Developing competency and confidence around horses also provides a practical and physiological basis for therapeutic activities supporting sensory integration, emotion regulation and self-efficacy. C Horses is the Sydney-based training location for Equine Assisted Therapy Australia (EATA) courses and also offers professional development in equine-assisted and animal-assisted therapy.
