Rachel is a Senior Lecturer of Psychology at Charles Sturt University. Her academic work concentrates on the entities at the margins of psychology, including human-animal relationships, critical psychology discourses, and women’s experiences of clinical psychology. Her human-animal scholarship addresses the relationship between horse and rider in equestrian sports, animal-assisted therapy, the psychology of pet ownership, and the mechanisms of change in animal-focused therapeutic contexts.

Rachel’s academic practice seeks to challenge disciplinary boundaries and explore how language and social frameworks are implicated in academic discourse and in the power dynamics underpinning psychology as a discipline.
